The Foundation to Promote Personal Responsibility is a national, non-partisan, grassroots organization, whose objective is to support the return of our country’s traditional values of self-reliance, self-determination, self-actualization, and social responsibility.
Our primary agenda item is to put America on a better fiscal path – – to eliminate the curse of constant deficit spending and it’s potentially devastating effects on future generations – our children and grandchildren. We have provided a link to the US debt clock, which showed that in October 2013, the amount of US government debt per person (including minor children and retirees receiving Social Security) was in excess of $53,000 per person (and rising). The following link is to the live US debt clock, which shows how much this amount has risen since October 2013.
We believe that it is immoral to push our country’s current issues, problems, and debt onto future generations. Our governmental units need to “live within their means”, just the same as any business (large or small) or any individual, or any family. Our agenda is to promote policies that will enable the U.S. government to eliminate deficit spending and then begin paying off the country’s incurred indebtedness over a reasonable period of time. Our Foundation fully supports the work of The Campaign to Fix the Debt. We have included a link on this page to The Campaign’s website. We encourage you to visit their website for additional information, and then join with our Foundation’s Editorial Board Members in digitally signing the Citizen’s Petition to Fix the Debt.
Our Foundation’s overriding philosophy is anchored to the guiding principles outlined in the Declaration of Independence and the US Constitution. We have provided a link on this page to the text of the Declaration of Independence. We encourage you to re-read the full text, to refresh your memory of this Declaration, which in many ways is as pertinent today, as it was in 1776. To paraphrase…. The Declaration states that all people have certain unalienable rights, which include life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. It also states that governments are instituted by its citizens, and a government derives its powers from the consent of the governed. However, when the government itself becomes destructive to these ends, it is the right (and responsibility) of the people to alter it, in order to maximize their personal safety and happiness
The Declaration of Independence
Our Editorial Board also subscribes to the wisdom put forth by a number of influential thought leaders, including those from the past, and in our Conversation Pieces, we will provide links to other works that will help our Foundation’s membership appreciate how we can apply that wisdom in addressing our country’s issues.
Our Foundation’s agenda also includes putting forth recommendations regarding Government Spending, Tax Reform, Federal tax reduction, and Term Limits. We support evolutionary change – – it took us a long time to get to the “current state”, and it will take a period of time to move to a better “desired state”.
Our Foundation’s goals are to support changes that maximize personal freedom and prosperity, balanced with each individual’s personal responsibility to themselves, and to their family and fellow citizens.
I believe our Foundation is clearly on the correct path for moving forward.
